Ego is such an evocative term. It’s the part of the personality that is often held accountable for our human shortcomings. But that 1/3 of the trinity: id, (ego) and superego, is such a wondrous part of who we all are looking at and lots of times perplexed by. I don’t think it was any accident that Freud put “ego” in between the id, which is the pleasure principle and the superego, which is our conscience. Isn’t that where most of us are a lot of the time—in between? We’re between thoughts, between feelings and between our growing pains. That’s why this blog was so important for me to create, and specifically this one, to write.

Finding my way through this creative writing process has been rewarding, exhilarating, frightening and liberating. It has given voice to the repressed and suppressed splits of my personality. It’s helped me to confront notions I’ve had about who I am, and what I’ve been told, accepted as well as rejected. Rejecting ideas of who I’ve been based upon constructs of who other people wanted me to be has given me the courage and inspiration to do a lot more with my life. The ideas I had prior to starting this blog and at times during it, were all the stuff of the superego that made continuing it at times a challenge. Thankfully, I’m noticing how I wane between the holy 3’s compound.

As a mindfulness practitioner, the greatest ah-ha moments and thereby life lessons have occurred from me slowing down and being with the moments as they come. While I continue to develop a global compassion practice for living, I am on an ever-changing, ever-evolving course of miracles and subsequent gratitude balance. I hope to continue receiving these lessons because as I do it heals me and possibly it’ll heal other people. To know that I don’t have to have all the answers is a great relief to me. Serendipity and surprise are becoming very sexy these days. I hope you will stay the course and share what you too have been discovering about yourself along the way.

How’s it going so far this week?

*This blog is about becoming free. It’s a reflection of introspective thoughts and experiences that have crossed miles of self-discovery. I created this blog to inspire others to live life with less self-criticism, judgment and openness to new experiences. May you find that you learn how to live a life by design and on your own terms!*
